Photoperiod & Pyrrhocoris apterus

Two illustrations were designed for Dr. David Dolezel (Institute of Entomology, Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic): the graphical abstract and one figure for main text of the following paper: “Photoperiod regulates growth of male accessory glands through juvenile hormone signaling in the linden bug, Pyrrhocoris apterus. Urbanová V, Bazalová O, Vaněčková H, Dolezel D. Insect Biochem Mol Biol. 2016 Jan 27. pii: S0965-1748(16)30003-0. doi: 10.1016/j.ibmb.2016.01.003. [Epub ahead of print].”

Aedes mosquito & juvenile hormone signaling

BioGraphix designed the figure for the following publication by Prof. M. Jindra in PNAS: “Something “hairy” in juvenile hormone signaling for mosquito reproduction. Jindra M. Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A. 2016 Jan 22. pii: 201524895. [Epub ahead of print].” The illustration depicts the mosquito female (Aedes aegypti) and the gene regulation by JH signaling.

Juvenile hormone signaling

BioGraphix designed a scheme of the JH signaling, which has been published in the following review: “Molecular basis of juvenile hormone signaling. Jindra M., Bellés X., Shinoda T. Curr Opin Insect Sci. 2015” http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2214574515001297

Popularization booklet about the Science in South Bohemia

Image designed by BioGraphix has been published in the booklet that introduces scientific strategies and achievements in the Biology Centre, Czech Academy of Sciences. The illustration represents the “Discovery of the juvenile hormone receptor” by Prof. Marek Jindra. Effects of juvenile hormone (JH) on insect metamorphosis have been known for 80 years but the mode of JH action until recently remained a mystery. A receptor for this unique arthropod hormone eluded identification.

Insect diapause

BioGraphix illustrated a figure about diapause and photoperiodic clock of insects. The figure has been published in the review by Dr. David Dolezel in the journal “Current Opinion in Insect Science”: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2214574514001576

Insect metamorphosis

BioGraphix presents a new graphical abstract designed for the story published in “Developmental Biology”. Importance of juvenile hormone signaling arises with competence of insect larvae to metamorphose. Smykal V, Daimon T, Kayukawa T, Takaki K, Shinoda T, Jindra M. Dev Biol. 2014 Mar 22.

Juvenile hormone signalling

BioGraphix designed a graphical abstract for the story published in “Insect Biochemistry and Molecular Biology”. “Juvenile hormone signaling during reproduction and development of the linden bug, Pyrrhocoris apterus. Smykal V, Bajgar A, Provaznik J, Fexova S, Buricova M, Takaki K, Hodkova M, Jindra M, Dolezel D.
